What Are Your Best Practices?

Each day's plans are a moving target and liable to veer in unexpected directions. 

To get through this time, I have some personal best practices. 

Here are some of the daily habits that help me to remain strong in body, mind, and spirit.  

 

  • Enjoying a tall mug of morning coffee

  • Reading a brief passage of Scripture, praying, meditating, and journaling

  • Exercising, showering, wearing makeup and dressing for the day with some jewelry and a scarf and no  PJ's

  • Eating at least three healthy meals a day of fresh, simple, whole foods

  • Enjoying a daily small serving of dark chocolate

  • Enjoying a glass of wine several times a week

  • Staying in touch with my children, mother, and friends

  • Practicing physical distancing AND being social by looking toward others, calling them by name, waving, "air" handshakes and hugs, and chatting from a distance.

  • Getting 7-8 hours of sleep at night

  • For better sleep, getting away from digital devices one hour before bedtime

  • Watching no more than one hour of news

  • Listening only to the experts with the hard data

  • Giving the benefit of the doubt to others

  • Providing practical help within the community
